Features
To ensure optimum performance, the tractor's hydraulic flow and increased system pressure are matched with the backhoe's system enhancing the digging force and overall performance.
Key features include:
- Valve spools have machined-metering grooves to allow smooth operation and precise control of several functions
- Improved feel and feathering capabilities
- Durable sub frame to ensure the tractor frame can handle the forces created from digging and transporting
- Buckets are designed for optimum productivity; available bucket widths are 20.3 cm (8 in.), 30.5 cm (12 in.), and 40.6 cm(16in.)
- Mechanical thumb allows movement of large and/or uneven-shaped objects
- Mid-mount mower compatibility prevents the need to remove mid-mower deck when the backhoe is installed
- 3-point hitch draft arms remain on the tractor and aid in the quick-attach feature of the 270B Backhoe
The operator station on the 270B Backhoe has been designed for improved operator comfort.
- A strong 3-point stance can be maintained when mounting and dismounting the backhoe using the rollover protective structure (ROPS) grab handle, the console grab handle, and the large boarding step mounted to the stabilizer arm.
- Boom and swing locks are accessible from the operator’s seat and have a built-in storage location when the backhoe is in use
- High-back seat provides more operator comfort during longer work hours
- Operator platform with non-slip grips are provided
There are several features that make the 270B Backhoe convenient and easy to operate.
- Seat pivots up when not in use to prevent damage during transport. This feature also keeps debris from collecting on the seat.
- Low-profile console allows an unobstructed view of the working area
- Two-lever control is used for boom lift, swing, dipper stick, and bucket
- Streamlined control valve and console provides better visibility to the digging area
- User-friendly, two-lever control is used for boom lift, swing dipper stick, and bucket
- Cushioned boom cylinder provides smooth operation and prevents abrupt contact with the backhoe frame when raising the boom.
The boom and dipper are designed with the strength to handle the large loads put on these powerful backhoes.
The 270B Backhoe offers improved attachability, and is compatible with mid-mount mower decks, loader, and front 3-point hitch. The rear 3-point hitch draft arms also remain on the tractor and is also used to install the 270B backhoe. Due to a clear instructional decal and improved tolerance, attaching the 270B Backhoe has never been easier.
The backhoe's mainframe fits into rear mounting brackets installed on the tractor. This provides the following important features:
- Vertical or side-to-side movement is virtually eliminated, providing more stability. The design of the mainframe also positions the entire backhoe close to the tractor. Operators are also able to benefit from the total weight transfer between the backhoe stabilizers and loader bucket.
- The tractor chassis is protected because the mainframe integrates the tractor and backhoe combination together as one.
- Once the mounting frame is installed, attaching and detaching is quick and easy.
Installation
- Remove the top center-link from the tractor
- Install the backhoe crossbar into the 3-point hitch draft arms using retainer pins provided. Be sure the draft arms are level side to side.
- Lower the 3-point hitch to the lowest position and slowly back the tractor into the backhoe, engaging the lift rods into the slots on the mainframe.
- Fully raise the 3-point hitch.
- Turn off the tractor and engage the parking brake.
- Secure the backhoe to the tractor using the locking pin on the backhoe.
- Lower the 3-point hitch to the lowest position.
- Remove the power beyond hose loop and connect the power beyond hoses on the backhoe.
NOTE: Review the operator’s manual for detailed procedures. Detailed instructions are also located on the rear of the control panel.
Removal
- Select a firm, level site to remove the backhoe and engage the tractor park brake.
- Lock boom swing using the swing locking pin.
- Lower stabilizers until horizontal.
- Lower boom and install the boom locking pin in the park position.
- Position the dipper so that it is perpendicular to the ground and position bucket with the teeth parallel with the ground.
- Turn off the tractor.
- Disconnect the power beyond from the backhoe and install the power beyond hose loop.
- Turn on the tractor and raise the 3-point hitch to the highest position and remove the backhoe locking pins.
- Turn on the tractor and lower the 3-point hitch. Be sure the crossbar is released from the slots in the mainframe.
- Release the park brake and slowly drive the tractor forward until the crossbar clears the backhoe.
- Turn off tractor and engage the parking brake. Remove the crossbar from the lower draft links and install the 3-point hitch center-link.
NOTE: Review the operator’s manual for detailed procedures. Detailed instructions are also located on the rear of the control panel.
- Replaceable bushings are available for the swing, dipper, boom, and bucket pivots.
- Replaceable bucket teeth
Buckets are available in a variety of sizes to fit the job for greater productivity. The 270B Backhoe can be ordered with 20.3-cm (8-in.), 30.5-cm (12-in.), and 40.6-cm (16-in.) buckets. Replaceable bucket teeth are available.
Rubber stabilizer pads are available as an attachment. The pads are popular when operating the backhoe on hard surfaces.
- Rubber stabilizer pads keep scratching and damage to ground surfaces minimal
