Features
Precision ag technologies have changed the way we farm, and John Deere has been at the forefront of that change. Adding the GreenStar™ ready or AutoTrac™ ready option to a Gator Utility Vehicle brings precision ag technology to farms of all sizes.
Establish boundary maps with GreenStar ready option
The GreenStar ready option provides a basic precision ag technology solution enabling you to utilize the vehicle’s fast speed, light weight, and nimbleness to establish boundary lines, even when the soil is too wet for larger equipment.
The GreenStar ready option code includes factory-installed components:
- Roof mount for a StarFire receiver
- Pivoting bracket for universal display
- Integrated wiring harnesses
A StarFire receiver is required and can be installed year-round or shared with another piece of equipment.
A universal display or G5e CommandCenter™ Display is also required. A universal display can be shared with other pieces of equipment, while a G5e CommandCenter Display remains with the utility vehicle year-round.
The GreenStar ready option also requires a JDLink™ modem to connect your utility vehicle to the John Deere Operations Center™:
- Track the current and past locations of your utility vehicle with the rest of your fleet.
- Wirelessly send your data to and from your vehicle without the hassle and delay of USB drives.
- Enables a tractor operator to flag the exact location of a large rock so the utility vehicle can be sent to the location to remove the hazard.
- Track productivity, maintenance, and machine vitals.
- Plan ahead for scheduled maintenance.
AutoTrac ready option enables hands-free steering
Bring another level of productivity to your farm by adding an AutoTrac assisted steering system to your Gator Utility Vehicle. In addition to the benefits of the GreenStar ready, the AutoTrac ready option enables hands-free steering and includes an ISO implement connector.
Stop waiting for the perfect day to spray
- Get a head start by pairing your Gator Utility Vehicle with a tow-behind sprayer. The vehicle’s light weight enables you to spray, even when the ground is too wet for larger equipment.
- Hands-free steering navigates predefined paths around buildings and fence rows while minimizing overlap, input costs, and operator fatigue.
- The ISO implement connector connects the vehicle to a John Deere Rate Controller which continuously adjusts the flow rate to the vehicle speed.
- Section control shuts off portions of the boom as needed to further minimize overlap and reduce input costs.
Improve soil mapping
- The days of picking a tree across the field to navigate are over. Use guidance lines to create a sampling grid and let your Gator Utility Vehicle keep you on track as you pull plugs across the field.
Checkout your boundaries to reduce planting hassles
- Ride along as the vehicle drives the boundaries and make sure they are ready for the planter.
- Identify and flag obstacles so they can be removed.
Receiver locking bracket
The optional receiver locking bracket provides protection from against theft or tampering by securing the receiver using a 15.875-mm (5/8-in.) lockable receiver hitch pin (sold separately).
AutoPath™ delivers guidance planning efficiency
Enhance your basic AutoTrac assisted steering system with AutoPath. AutoPath transforms farming operations by providing precise, automated guidance for the entire field, regardless of the season or crop type. With AutoPath, you can expect improved productivity, higher yields, and overall greater operational efficiency.
AutoPath plans can be generated in one of two ways:
- From exact row crop data captured in a source operation
- From a precise, driven field boundary using SF3 or higher correction signal
Gator utility vehicles can use AutoPath (rows) to steer themselves accurately between planted crop rows, preventing crop damage. This enables the driver to work quicker and more efficiently while concentrating on field tasks such as spot spraying, crop, rock, or pest scouting, even before emergence.
Utilize a Gator Utility Vehicle’s fast speed, light weight, and agility to drive around and map the perimeter of your fields. This can be done in conjunction with a StarFire Receiver and Gen 4 or G5 display. These accurate and robust boundaries can support AutoPath (boundaries) plans and autonomy in the future. Once the field boundary is established and an AutoPath plan is created with reference to the boundary using the Operations Center or within the display, Gators can efficiently navigate the entire field, reaping the same benefits mentioned earlier.
AutoPath requires a model year 2025 or newer vehicle, a G5 Advanced Universal software license (renews annually), and 24-1 or later GenOS software.
Full-size Gator™ XUVs are powered by an 854-cc (52.1-cu in.), 3-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-cycle diesel engine. It produces 48 Nm (35.5-lb-ft) of torque at 2600 rpm.

The Full-size Gator™ XUVs have a precision-engineered drivetrain system that increases acceleration while balancing hauling, towing, and hill- climbing capabilities. Power is transmitted from the engine through a continuously variable clutch system to the transaxle.
Features include:
- The engine braking system utilizes a tight belt for operation, requiring an idler sleeve on the primary clutch for neutral. The secondary clutch is a build- on-shaft design that utilizes a cam to tune the acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle. The clutch stays engaged, providing deceleration until approximately 5 km/h (3 mph).
- The CVT air intake is positioned to access clean air to cool the system. Keeping the system cool, dry, and free of debris reduces wear and improves durability.
- A two-range transmission provides:
- Improved maneuverability in tight spaces and increased pulling torque in low range Faster speeds and reduced transport time in high range
- Standard full-clutch enclosure with high-speed fan provides longer belt and clutch life
- High-ratio clutches with three cam weights for maximum belt-clamp load in high torque conditions
How the variable-speed drive works:
- As engine speed increases, the spring-loaded drive clutch is closed by weights being forced out by centrifugal force.
- As the drive clutch closes, the belt rides up to the largest diameter of the drive clutch and forces open the driven clutch.
- With the belt running in the smallest diameter of the driven clutch, the speed being transferred to the transaxle is increased.
- The driven clutch is designed to sense varying loads (inclines, mud, etc.) and constantly adjusts drive speed upward or downward so that engine rpm remains optimal.
Transaxle, four-wheel drive (4WD), and constant velocity (CV) shafts
Operator interface features:
- Switch-activated traction control system with limited-slip front and locking rear differentials
- Provides exceptional traction in challenging conditions
- Near instantaneous torque to the front wheels once rocker switch is engaged
- Maintains turf-friendly operation in two-wheel drive (2WD) mode
- 4WD combined with rear differential lock, provides excellent traction in challenging conditions
- Descend hills with more control with 4WD engaged enabling all four wheels to slow the vehicle
- Clutch engagement still necessary to prevent free coasting
Transaxle features:
- Low, high, neutral, reverse, and park transaxle

The modem regularly transmits the vehicle’s engine hours to inform maintenance planning and balance use.
- Sync-The vehicle reports actual engine hours to the Operations Center.
- Key-Engine hours are estimated by monitoring the key switch. Engine hours can be corrected in Operations Center.
Maintenance planner
Factory or custom maintenance plans can be established in Operations Center. Maintenance alerts are sent when engine hours reach maintenance intervals.
Machine Analyzer Tool
On select products, the modem reports the hours the vehicle spent working and idling. The Operations Center’s Machine Analyzer tool reports usage data which allows you to analyze operator behavior, identify causes of low productivity, and initiate corrective actions.
Fuel level
On select products, the modem reports the fuel level. On these products, an analysis of fuel consumption is available in the Operations Center Machine Analyzer Tool. Measuring fuel consumption enables you to address causes of excessive fuel use.
Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
On select products, the modem transmits the trouble codes generated by the vehicle’s control units to the Operations Center. Addressing DTCs can reduce downtime and repair costs. For example, a low-engine oil pressure DTC can indicate an engine is low on oil. Addressing the issue can prevent costly downtime and repairs.
To help address issues quickly, when a DTC is generated, the Operations Center can display a push notification on the mobile app and send an email. Operations Center can also be configured to limit notifications to stop-level severity DTCs.
Service Advisor Remote
On select products, John Deere dealers can perform remote diagnostics, software programming, and adjustments without the cost of a service call.
Compatibility
A JDLink Modem is included on:
- Model year 2023 to 2025 vehicles ordered with option code 183E JDLink Modem. Option code 183E was only available with, and required on, GreenStar ready and AutoTrac ready vehicles.
- Model year 2026 and newer vehicles ordered with option code 183N JDLink M Modem. Option code 183N can be ordered as a stand-alone option and is required on GreenStar ready and AutoTrac ready vehicles.
A JDLink M Modem can be field installed on the Gator Utility Vehicles listed below. Field installation attachments simplify modem installation, and include mounting hardware, harness, and instructions. Field installation requires a JDLink M Modem to be ordered separately. The field installation attachments include a wiring harness therefore the modem should be ordered with the less harness option code.

Ethernet cable and switch kits
On model year 2026 and newer XUV 845M, 845R, 875M, and 875R vehicles, an ethernet cable connects the JDLink M Modem to a Generation 4 or 5 display to transmit precision ag technology data to Operations Center.
- BUC12095 display and receiver integration kit includes the ethernet cable
- BUC11814 display and receiver integration kit requires an optional BUC11879 ethernet cable
- Only vehicles equipped with a BUC11814 display and receiver integration kit benefit from BUC11879 ethernet cable since factory-installed GreenStar and AutoTrac ready options include this functionality.
- Model year 2025 and older vehicles are not compatible with BUC11879 ethernet cable.
Model year 2026 vehicles with a generation 4 display (4240 or 4640) also require a BUC11874 ethernet switch to adapt the generation 4 display. This applies to vehicles with factory-installed GreenStar ready option, factory-installed AutoTrac ready option, and vehicles with a BUC11814 display and receiver integration kit. GreenStar 3 2630 Displays are not compatible with model year 2026 and newer AutoTrac systems.
